Welcome to our province ...

Called by the French Charitable Society of the time, four Sisters of the Congregation of Saint Joseph of Cluny arrived in Lima on June 8, 1870 to take charge of the "Maison française d'Asile" (French House of Asylum), in order to help families of French origin in need of care and assistance.

After a few years, this Asylum Home became the " Health Centre" . For almost a century, the Sisters were responsible for the administration and were present in all the clinic's departments.
Their work was recognised and the sisters were able to extend their outreach by founding a school in Lima, also for the children of French families.

The number of pupils grew rapidly, as in addition to the French children, a large number of Peruvian families asked to have their children enrolled so that they could learn a foreign language and also benefit from the study methods recommended in France.

Guided by this same missionary spirit, the sisters responded to the invitation of the Bishop of Matanzas, Cuba, through the Mother House, and in 1997 the first community was founded in San Miguel de los Baños. Then, in 2001, the second community was founded in Colón. The two communities of six sisters serve this diocese through pastoral care.
