Our history

The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny are a religious congregation founded in France by Anne-Marie Javouhey in 1807.

Knowing God's will and doing it was her rule of thought and action. Her deep desire to spread Christ's love for all and her compassionate love for the most disadvantaged were manifested in her daring missionary spirit. By following in her footsteps, we share this mission of liberation and restoring dignity to all.

Our mission

"Together, ignite the world with love and hope".

(General chapter 2024)

Passionate about God,
respectful of human dignity,
educators of freedom,
helping people grow in all their dimensions,
and attentive to the calls of the Holy Spirit ...
the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny participate together in the mission of the Church.

Our mission includes Education, Pastoral Care, Health and Social Action.

Join us

Through baptism, we are called by God to a life of faith, hope and love, becoming members of the body of Christ and participating in his mission. This call is not limited to a single path. It is an invitation to follow Christ throughout our lives, in the circumstances in which we find ourselves and with the gifts that are ours.

Here are some ways of responding to God's call with the Sisters of St Joseph of Cluny.

  • God's call
  • Becoming a sister
  • Becoming a lay associate
  • Praying for our missions
