Maison Provinciale, Avenue Cheikh Anta Diop, B.P. 7035, Dakar-Médina, Senegal
The Province of French-speaking West Africa was founded at the very beginning of the Congregation in 1819 by Mother Javouhey.
It is one of the few provinces in Africa to welcome its foundress, and this remains a source of motivation and missionary zeal.

We celebrated two jubilees in Senegal: 200 years since the arrival of the Sisters in 2019 and 200 years since the arrival of Mother Javouhey, founder of the Congregation, in 2022. It was a Grace for us!
Despite its age (206 years), the province remains dynamic and young - with more than 50% of the sisters being under the age of 50. Hence we attach great importance to formation in all areas. Another of our characteristics is our internationality and availability for the mission. The intermingling that exists in all our communities bears witness to the spirit of welcome and communion that opens us up to the universal.
The Sisters of the Province of Afrique de l’Ouest Francophone minister in the following areas:
In this Year of Hope, we are more motivated than ever in our mission by the message of Pope Francis, who invites us to be "messengers and builders of hope" in the world.
Missionary disciples ... to this call from God, we respond with total availability, ready to leave our country to go where God calls us to serve our brothers and sisters.
