God's will
To know the Will of God and to do it was the guiding principle of the thought and action of Anne-Marie Javouhey. It was the secret of the serenity and fruitfulness of her life:
"To do the Will of God, surely that is everything. We must therefore see it in all things, love to do it and make it loved". (Constitutions of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny)
The search for the Will of God takes place through dialogue, discernment and mutual love.
Anne-Marie Javouhey: free to love
Anne-Marie's life and her letters speak of her intimate union with God, her burning zeal to spread Christ's love for all throughout the world and her compassionate love for the most abandoned. Her missionary courage was founded on the conviction that she had been sent by God to free all persons from their various forms of slavery and to restore to them their dignity as children of God.
Called to be mystics and prophets: called to liberate for life in abundance
Following in Anne-Marie's footsteps and united with Christ in answer to his call, we participate in his mission. All our actions are grounded in contemplation and our contemplation draws us out of our comfort zone, pushing us to cross boundaries in order to be present to “the other”, igniting the world with love and hope.
The spirituality of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny is a way of life that responds to the signs of the times. It defines our identity and our unity. It renews itself even as we share it. It is DYNAMIC, influencing our lives and inspiring our mission. It is at the heart of our daily lives.
A Sister of Saint Joseph of Cluny must "be like a bird on a branch, ready to fly at the first sign of obedience".
