The Indian Assembly of Sisters of Saint Joseph of Cluny, the six provinces of India, took place from 1st to 10th September 2025 to the Cluny Provincial House, Ariyamangalam, Trichy. The meeting was attended by 64 delegates from all over India, representing the six provinces of the Congregation. The meeting was presided over by the Superior General, accompanied by three General Councillors.
The meeting began with a warm welcome from Sister Agnes Anthonimuthu, Provincial Superior of Trichy, who welcomed the Superior General, the General Councillors and all the participants.
In her opening address, Sister Clare Stanley, Superior General, invited each sister to pause to listen deeply -to God's word, to one another, and to the signs of the times-in order to discern together the concrete steps that will shape the future., She encouraged the sisters to explore how God is calling them forward as Cluny Sisters in India and as members of the wider Cluny family. The inaugural Mass was celebrated by Mgr S. Arokiaraj, Bishop of Trichy.
Over the course of the ten days, the meeting reflected in depth on three key themes:
1 The Mission - led by Sister Clare Stanley
2 Training - led by Sister Ann Stevens
3 Collaboration - led by Sister Luciana D'Rosario and Sister Edel Rai
To explore these issues in greater depth, two guest priests spoke on the following topics: " The challenges of the current Indian context " (Father Xavier Arulraj) and " Awareness, preparedness and response in the Indian context " (Father Cedric Prakash SJ).
